Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday carried out a high-profile operation at the Maitama residence of the former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, in Abuja.

The operation, which drew significant attention from residents and passersby, saw a large contingent of EFCC personnel arrive at the property in no fewer than five buses.

The operatives, dressed in their trademark red and black jackets and bearing arms, reportedly took control of the area, barricading access roads leading to the residence and restricting both vehicular and pedestrian movement.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the team, allegedly led by a senior EFCC official identified as Folarin Dare, acted swiftly upon arrival, positioning themselves strategically around the premises to prevent entry or exit.

The residence, located at No. 2 Koranakh Close, off Amazon Street in the upscale Maitama district, was subsequently sealed off, with security agents maintaining a firm presence at all access points.

Sources suggest that efforts by individuals to approach or gain entry into the property were firmly denied, as the operatives enforced a strict perimeter around the building.

The heavy security presence created a tense atmosphere in the otherwise quiet neighborhood, with residents observing from a distance as the situation unfolded.

While the EFCC has yet to release an official statement detailing the exact nature of the operation, the development is widely believed to be connected to an ongoing investigation into alleged financial misconduct and improprieties involving the former Attorney-General.

However, specific allegations or charges have not been publicly disclosed.
