The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc (EEDC) has apologised to electricity consumers across the South-East following a power outage that occurred on Tuesday.

The company said the disruption affected customers in Abia (Umuahia), Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo states after it lost supply from its source of power at about 10:48 a.m.

In a statement issued in Enugu by the Group Head, Corporate Communications of EEDC, Mr Emeka Ezeh, the company explained that the outage impacted areas served by its subsidiary companies—MainPower, TransPower, FirstPower, NewEra and EastLand.

According to the statement, the cause of the loss of supply was yet to be determined as of the time of the announcement.

“We are currently on standby and liaising with relevant stakeholders to ensure the prompt restoration of power supply across the affected areas,” Ezeh said.

He appealed for the understanding of customers and expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the outage.

“We sincerely apologise to our esteemed customers for the inconvenience and assure them that efforts are ongoing to restore supply as soon as possible,” the statement added.
