Poised to ensure that all properties in the state are with building plans, Edo State Government is offering developers a two-week window for issuance of free building plan permits.
Commissioner for Physical Planning, Urban and Regional Development, Isoken Omo, disclosed this to newsmen after the state’s weekly Executive Council (EXCO) meeting, chaired by Governor Godwin Obaseki, The Trumpet gathered.
Omo urged property developers to approach the ministry for their building plans, stressing that the ongoing ‘Operation Show Your Building Plan ” is not to witch-hunt anybody, but in line with the government’s vision of actualising the state’s 30-year development plan.
She said: “The ‘Operation show your building plan’ seeks to encourage all land developers and those intending to build, to come for their building plans in the ministry.
The objective of the exercise is to capture all into the Edo State Master Plan as it’s necessary for development.
“From now till March 31, those that will approach us and apply for their building approval will not be charged, but afterwards, charges will apply. I appeal to all to take this window of opportunity.”

She explained that the benefits of having plans were huge because the property is recorded and identified as a legal property on Edo soil and the conveyance letter, which is like a legal document is issued.
She advised residents to ensure that their buildings are captured at this time as the Ministry is very cooperative and the exercise will continue every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
