The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dragged the acting Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Jarret Tenebe, to court over the illegal and violent takeover of its secretariat on Airport Road, Benin City.
The PDP is also requesting the court to grant a perpetual injunction restraining Tenebe and his agents from further trespassing on, conducting any business within, or disturbing their peaceful occupation of the secretariat located at No. 49, Airport Road, Benin City.
In the writ of summons made available to our correspondent, the PDP also asked the court to order Tenebe to pay ₦900 million in damages.
Also, the party is asking for another ₦300 million as special damages for its office equipment, such as computers, generators, and laptops, among others, which Tenebe and his thugs allegedly carted away and destroyed during the illegal invasion and takeover.

Equally, the PDP is seeking a declaration that the party is the rightful occupant of the premises known as No. 49, Airport Road, Benin City, having leased the same from Mr. Enoma Agbontaen, whose said lease is still subsisting.”
The PDP is further seeking a declaration that the violent eviction of the party and its staff from the premises known as No. 49, Airport Road, Benin City, Edo State, constitutes an act of trespass.
That by forcefully evicting the party from its rented premises, the defendant violated the claimant’s rights to a quiet enjoyment of its rented property, as well as the defendant bearing the cost of renting a temporary secretariat until the case is concluded.
