Ebonyi State has reiterated its commitment to support victims of a windstorm but has appealed for urgent humanitarian intervention from the federal government, citing the overwhelming scale of the destruction.
The state Commissioner for Human Capital Development and Monitoring, Mrs. Ann Aligwe, made this known when the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Enugu Operations Office, in collaboration with the Ebonyi State Emergency Management Agency (EB-SEMA), conducted a comprehensive post-disaster assessment to evaluate the extent of damage and identify the needs of affected residents.
The joint assessment team visited the affected communities, where numerous residents were rendered homeless and critical infrastructure, including the Ebonyi State Skills Acquisition Centre, was severely damaged.

Addressing the victims, Mr. Obinna Nwokike, who led the NEMA delegation, conveyed the federal government’s sympathy and support.
He also encouraged the state government to provide temporary shelter for residents whose homes were destroyed.
The impacted communities are Amaike Aba in Ebonyi Local Government Area; Centenary City, Inyimagu-Unuhu, Ndieze-Inyimagu, and Camp David in Abakiliki Local Government Area; Osusara Ekka in Ezza North Local Government Area and Offerekpa Ezzama in Ezza South Local Government Area.
