The crisis rocking the Ebonyi state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Sunday, took another dimension as the state Chairman and 12 out of 13 LG Chairmen disowned the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii.

The state officers of the party insisted that they are still behind Senator Joseph Obinna Ogba despite the Supreme Court judgment.

The apex court had on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, declared Ọdịi as the authentic governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in Ebonyi state.

Addressing party supporters, the state Chairman, Mr Tochukwu Okorie, stated that nothing would make senator Obinna Ogba not to fly the ticket of the party having emerged the winner of the rescheduled primary of the party held on June 4th and 5th 2022.

Speaking also, Obinna Ogba, who addressed his teeming supporters over the recent judgment of the Supreme Court, noted that there was still hope for him to fly the governorship ticket of PDP in the 2023 general election.

He expressed optimism that other pending cases at the Supreme Court may favour him to be the candidate of PDP.

Senator Joseph Obinna Ogba

Ogba said: “once the pending and remaining matter at the Supreme Court is concluded I will further our political conversation in-terms of political campaign or political alignment or realignment with regards to 2023.

“In all these, I respect Nigeria judiciary and I have not and will not have personal problem with any human being because of party politics and may our revered judiciary complete what they have started.”
