Ebonyi “ll be more Obidient than other states -Cleric

By CHARLES ONYEKWERE

The Labour Party (LP)Candidate for the Ohaukwu South State Constituency, Rev. Osondu Nwakpoku Favour on Tuesday said that his party would record a landslide victory in Ebonyi State come the 2023 General Elections.

The cleric who is the Priest of the Methodist Church Nigeria stated this while interacting with journalists in Abakalilki, Ebonyi State capital.

He described Ebonyi as a home of Obidients saying that the votes for the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Mr Peter Obi will be enormous in the state.

While commending the track records of the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party in Ebonyi state, Arch. Edward Nkwegu, the Cleric noted that the state would record all-round development considering the dispositions of his party’s candidate if he emerges winner in the 2023 guber polls.

Osondu said, the Labour Party had made all arrangements for the 2023 general elections and expressed optimism about his victory at the polls.

“I’m prepared to win the 2023 polls of the Ohaukwu South State Constituency. I have done a lot of consultations, with both the stakeholders and the good people in my constituency. I have assessed myself, believing that my financial muscle, physical health and vitality, alongside the connection and my people’s support gave me the prowess to come and contest the position.

“I’m out for it, and I’m sure that God must give me victory in 2023,” the Cleric declared.

Speaking on his antecedents, Osondu said: “By God’s grace, I have invested in humanity. If you go where I’m serving as a Priest today, even the downtrodden and everybody is clamouring for me, giving me massive support.

“I don’t like eating and seeing another person by my side to be hungry. I don’t like putting on clothes and seeing people go naked around me. I don’t like enjoying myself in my shelter and seeing another person being exposed to rain or harsh weather.

“I have been able to feed the downtrodden, shelter some people, bought clothes for people, and that’s why I vow if God gives me a higher level I will do better than these. The evidence is very clear and you can go and verify it.”

He alleged that the present government has failed the citizens and urged the electorate to shun every bargain that may lure them into choosing bad candidates for any elective position in 2023.

“You have seen what happened before the arrival of the current government in the state, and from our observation so far, it is clear that the present administration is not doing well.

“They are not transparent, and accountable, and have no dividend of democracy at the community level. Our representatives this time are not doing well. What we see these days, are unemployment, insecurity challenges, and anti-democratic activities, and God Himself is not happy with the present government.

“So what we need is a complete revolution – a transformation that will bring a robust economy, quality education, standard health, revitalization of our culture of peace, unity and progress, vibrant sports and entertainment lives, stable security, above all, industrialisation and all-inclusive governance,” he said.

The Priest of the Method Church urged Christians not to disassociate themselves from partisan politics, “because when the righteous man is on the thrown, the people rejoice.”

Osondu said that his emergence would be instrumental to peace-building in the state particularly in his constituency, insisting that “Ebonyi must be Obidient in 2023 polls.”

He vowed to consider people first in his agenda while delivering his campaign promises if he emerged victorious at the polls.
