The Delta State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its ongoing crackdown on violent crime, arresting a suspected cult leader in Aviara community and a gun runner along the Asaba–Benin Expressway. Several firearms, live cartridges, and ammunition were recovered during the separate operations.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said the first arrest followed credible intelligence received on October 25, 2025. A resident of Aviara, under the Oleh Division, had reported a video circulated on a WhatsApp group named “Real Men,” allegedly showing members of the Eiye confraternity engaging in cult activities.
Acting swiftly, the Divisional Police Officer of Oleh Division, CSP Keme Osuluku, ordered a covert investigation that led to the arrest of one Donatus Odovo, aged 29, from Aviara community. Further interrogation and follow-up operations led to the capture of the suspected ringleader, 36-year-old Zachariah Okeh.
A search of Okeh’s residence yielded a cache of weapons, including a locally made double-barrel gun, a single-barrel gun, and six live cartridges. Both suspects are in custody as police intensify efforts to track down other fleeing members of the group.

Following directives from the RRS Commander, CSP Nosa Alex, officers conducted a follow-up search at Emmanuel’s residence, where they discovered an additional pump-action shotgun (breech number 20-R-3921) and four live cartridges.
Both suspects are being held for further investigation as the Delta Police Command continues its intensified campaign against cultism, gunrunning, and other violent crimes across the state.
