The member representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the Labour Party (LP), Rep. Ngozi Okolie has announced his decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This is coming barely a month after the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori and the entire structures of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state defected to the APC.
The federal lawmaker who addressed journalists in Asaba, said he had consulted wide with his constituents on his resignation from the LP, as well as exploring the option of joining the APC.
Rep. Okolie, one of the two federal lawmakers from Delta State that were elected on the platform of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, said he decided to resign his membership due to the internal crises rocking the party.
”The labour party for now is very disorganised, we don’t have any headway, no direction and the lingering problem that is actually drawing us back.

“So, staying in a party that is not organised would actually not make me progress in the National Assembly,” Rep. Okole stated.
The lawmaker explained that he had informed Gov. Oborevwori about his decision to join the ruling APC.
He said aligning with the ruling APC at the national level would facilitate his efforts to attract more constituency projects to Aniocha/ Oshimili areas of Delta State.
”The traditional rulers in Delta have endorsed the state governor for defecting to the APC. The PDP structures have moved to the APC, but I think it would be to the advantage of my constituency to actually join them there too,” he added.
