The Nigeria Customs Service, Area 2 Command in Onne, Rivers State says it generated N634 billion from January to December of this year.
The Customs Area Controller of the command, Mohammed Babandede, who disclosed this on Tuesday at a press conference at the command headquarters, said the feat surpassed the annual target of N618billion set for the command.
According to him, the figure represents an increase of N321billion,which is about 98 percent increase from the 2023 revenue.
In the area of anti-smuggling, he said a total of 76 containers bearing arms, ammunition, illicit medicine, vegetable oil, footwears, donkey skin and used cloths, among other contrabands with duty paid value of N150, 872, 551, 207 were seized in the last 12 months.

Babadende said the major commodities exported through the port comprise of agro and mineral resources, namely sesame seeds, aluminium ingot, granular urea in bulk, wheat bran and orange peel, among others.
The exported items, he said amounted to 2, 707, 339. 22 metric tonnes of goods,with free on board value of $952, 986, 490. 99, which is equivalent to N1, 261, 039, 168. 99 that was processed through the command this year.
He appreciated other sister agencies which collaborated with the command in achieving the feat it recorded.
“We appreciate the continued support and collaboration of all stakeholders, including the media in amplifying our message and efforts to combat smuggling,” Babandede said.
