Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidates in Cross River State have endorsed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the sole presidential candidate of the party.

In a joint statement issued on Monday and made available to journalists in Calabar , the ADC candidates said the endorsement came after extensive consultations with the party supporters, stakeholders, and grassroots structures across the state.
The statement was signed by the candidates, including Wilfred Usani, Prof. Joe Edet, Amb. Nkoyo Toyo, Inyang Unoh, Johnson Okolie, Prince Paulinus Mbey, Ms Offiong Nsefik, and Chief Emmanuel Etienne.
In the statement, they explained that the endorsement was driven by a firm conviction that Nigeria requires experienced, inclusive, and visionary leadership, which can be found in the person of Atiku.
“We, the duly nominated candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Cross River State, after extensive consultations with our supporters, stakeholders, and grassroots structures across the state, hereby unanimously endorse the candidacy of Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the ADC at this critical moment in our nation’s history.

“Our endorsement is driven by a firm conviction that Nigeria requires experienced, inclusive, and visionary leadership underpinned by the manifesto of the ADC and capable of restoring public confidence, strengthening democratic institutions, revitalising the economy, and advancing national unity,” the candidates, further stated.
Atiku, the candidates added, has consistently demonstrated commitment to democratic values, national development devoid of sectional interests, economic reforms, and the advancement of participatory governance.
“As candidates representing the hopes and aspirations of the people of Cross River State under the ADC platform, we believe his leadership experience and national outlook will benefit our state and provide a credible pathway toward rebuilding Nigeria and creating opportunities for young people, women, businesses, and vulnerable communities,” the statement added
They called on their supporters, party faithful, and all well-meaning members of the party to “unite behind this shared vision of national renewal, justice, prosperity, and accountable governance.”
