Controversial singer Habeeb Olalomi Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been convicted and sentenced to three months in prison by Chief Magistrate Babajide Ilo.
The ruling was delivered at the Magistrate Court in Ifo, Ogun State, following a three-count charge against him that included serious offenses of assault and theft of musical equipment, as outlined in charge sheet No. MIF/192C/2023.
Portable was initially arraigned in April 2023 and granted bail in the sum of 300,000 naira, secured by two sureties who are family members. However, he was remanded in custody last week after failing to appear for several court hearings, raising concerns about his commitment to the legal process.

The prosecution presented evidence that the offenses occurred on November 18, 2022, in Okeosa, Ilogbo, within the jurisdiction of the Ifo Magisterial District. It was alleged that Portable, along with accomplices, assaulted a man named Emmanuel Oluwafemi and unlawfully took possession of valuable studio equipment, which belonged to him.
In her verdict, Magistrate Ilo found Portable guilty on two of the three charges brought against him. For Count 1, which involved conspiracy to commit assault, he received a sentence of one month in prison; alternatively, he could pay a fine of 10,000 naira.
For Count 2, which pertained to unlawful assault, he was sentenced to an additional two months in prison or a fine of 20,000 naira. The third charge was dismissed.
