Singer Darlington Achakpo, known as Speed Darlington, has been granted bail in the sum of N20 million by Justice Ekerete Alan of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
This decision follows a bail application filed his lawyer, Marshall Abubakar, after the singer pleaded not guilty to a two- count charge of cybercrime.
The judge specified that the bail must be secured by one surety who is a Level 10 civil servant and residing in Abuja. Also, the surety must provide an affidavit of means and have his/her address verified by the court registrar.

Additionally, the surety needs to be employed either by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) or be a federal civil servant and must submit his/her letter of appointment along with proof of last promotion.
Speed Darlington is required to deposit his international passport, while the two of them are expected to provide their recent passport photographs to the court registrar. Until these conditions are met, the singer will remain at the Kuje Correctional Centre.
The case has been adjourned until March 18 for trial, with the inspector-general of police bringing the amended charges against him.
Speed Darlington has been in police detention since November 2024 after allegedly jumping bail.
He is currently being investigated after Burnaboy, petitioned the police claiming he defamed his person in a video he released last December, in which Speed Darlington insinuated Burnaboy won a Grammy award after having an affair with embattled American rapper, Sean Combs, aka Diddy.
