From Joshua Omoloye, Abuja
A Nigerian based in Spain, Julius Omorogbe, has developed an App-based carpooling platform known as Cool ride, to solve inter-state travel hurdles faced by many Nigerians.
The app would also provide a secure platform for passengers amid the pervading fear of insecurity, while traveling on Nigerian roads.
According to him, CoolRide Services, which is a new innovation for travelers across the country, was founded in 2020.
Omorogbe told journalists in Abuja at the weekend that travelers could connect with other users heading in the same direction and request a ride on the App, noting that car owners could also register on the platform and share their cars with other passengers to earn extra money, while traveling.
He said he came up with the App to make transportation across Nigeria easier, safer and cheaper, and to make sure that people can travel at their own leisure, without wasting endless hours at the motor park.
“CoolRide App is secure as everyone is profiled, and all payments are made with Bank details for security purposes. It is aimed at creating part-time jobs and income for Nigerians. It could also serve as an alternative in the case of strikes by other transporters.
“It is very risky to travel out of town with someone you don’t know today. CoolRide provides a safer and cheaper way to travel out of town.
“With CoolRide, people spend less traveling out of town with a verified driver going in the same direction. They can also make additional income by becoming a verified CoolRide driver with their personal cars,” Omorogbe stated.
