Some rescued victims of the ransacked kidnappers’ and cannibals’ den in Udah community at Orsu local government area of Imo State and Uli community in Ihiala local government area of Anambra State have said that victims of the kidnap gang were converted, molested, assaulted, raped, killed and roasted as the case may be.

The victims stated this while narrating newsmen their ordeals in the hands of the kidnappers, who include women, girls and children.

“We were five girls that were kidnapped. We were beaten, assaulted, molested and raped. They tried to force me to join the gang but I told them I cannot kill a fellow human being. The leader of the gang was to rape me in the morning when he heard the gunshots.

“The kidnappers are many, I can’t count them. They include women, girls and even children. And they assault, kill, bury and even roast human beings. An Army man was kidnapped and was killed with another light complexion man,” one of the rescued victims said.

The traditional ruler of Ihube autonomous community in Okigwe local government area of Imo State, Eze Acho Ndukwe who was kidnapped on Saturday 11th December, 2021, noted when the kidnappers stormed his community they kidnapped him with two young men and another traditional ruler who was killed in the process.

“We were two traditional rulers that were kidnapped and two other young men. But the other traditional ruler died. I thank the Governor and the security operatives for their timely intervention,” Ndukwe stated.

A joint taskforce comprising the Military, Police and DSS operatives stormed Orsu LGA in Imo State and Ihiala LGA in Anambra State and reclaimed two communities overtaken by kidnappers, arresting over thirty (30) of them on Tuesday.

While briefing the press on the operation and activities of the criminal gang, DSS Director in Imo State, Wilcox Idaminabo said that the suspects were not just kidnappers but also cannibals and insurgents.

“About 01:00 hours this morning, the joint security team comprising the Military, Police and DSS stormed the camp in Udah community in Imo State and Uli community in Anambra State.

“When we got there, we noticed that the community has been deserted. These boys have taken over the communities. They have carved lands for themselves and that is a brand of insurgency. There is nobody; it is just a ghost town, everybody has disappeared from this town.

“The security forces were able to rescued the Eze from Okigwe, Acho Ndukwe that was kidnapped some days ago and we discovered a lot of decapitated bodies and surprisingly in this 21st century, we noticed that people practice cannibalism here because we saw human flesh being roasted. It was an eyesore,” the DSS Director said.

He also added that the criminal gang engaged the joint taskforce but the security operatives overpowered them. A large number of them were arrested, many vehicles recovered and a lot of dead bodies were found.

While commending the security operatives, the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimna said that insecurity in the State is being sponsored by enemies of the State, especially aggrieved politicians who do not like peace and progress of Nigeria. He added that anyone that can kill and roast a fellow human is not worthy to live.
