The annual celebration brought together prominent leaders, cultural stakeholders, and heritage advocates to spotlight the evolving role of museums in safeguarding national identity amidst global change.

Delivering the opening remarks, the Hon. Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Muktar Yawari Mohammed, emphasized the vital role museums play in preserving Nigeria’s diverse history.

“Museums are the custodians of our collective history, the keepers of our diverse cultures, and the bridges that connect our past with our future,

“They tell stories of ancient kingdoms, rich traditions, and the resilience of our people, a tapestry of safeguarding cultural heritage for generations to come”, he said.

A highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of Governor Otu for his visionary leadership and commitment to cultural infrastructure, notably the recent renovation of the historic Calabar Museum.
