The third edition of the Customs Comptroller-General Premier Volleyball League is generating more than excitement on the court, as traders and small business owners around the Moshood Abiola National Stadium report a surge in commercial activity.

One of the vendors, identified simply as Mummy John, said the competition had significantly improved sales despite prevailing economic challenges.

“We thank God that despite the economic situation in the country, business has been very good here. There are times I have to cook more than twice a day just to meet the demand of customers,” she said.

Financial institutions also took advantage of the gathering, with bank representatives engaging attendees and promoting account-opening services, further adding to the commercial buzz surrounding the event.

The volleyball championship, which commenced on June 13, is scheduled to conclude on June 28, 2026. It features 26 teams from across Nigeria, evenly split between 13 men’s teams and 13 women’s teams, making it one of the country’s premier volleyball competitions.

Beyond showcasing athletic talent, the tournament is also contributing to the local economy by creating income opportunities for vendors and service providers while drawing volleyball enthusiasts from different parts of the country.
