In a bid to strengthen public procurement processes across Nigeria, the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Dr. Adebowale A. Adedokun, has welcomed the Director-General of Gombe State Due Process Bureau, Engr. Mohammed Dauda Abubakar, at the BPP headquarters in Abuja. The meeting was aimed at exploring potential collaborations and learning from the innovative steps taken by Gombe State in revolutionizing its procurement processes.
Engr. Abubakar shared insights on Gombe State’s groundbreaking approach, highlighting the development of a digital platform designed to improve transparency and efficiency in public procurement. The state has launched a comprehensive website that provides detailed information on contracts and projects, complemented by a mobile app and dashboard for real-time monitoring and management.
Emphasizing the critical role of technology in enhancing accountability and tackling procurement challenges, Engr. Abubakar noted that Gombe State’s advancements could serve as a model for the nation. The integration of technology into procurement processes has been pivotal in the state’s progress, and the aim is to replicate this success on a larger scale.
Dr. Adebowale expressed a keen interest in adopting Gombe State’s technological solutions for national public procurement. He highlighted the potential benefits, particularly in areas like Community-Based Procurement and project monitoring, which would allow for efficient tracking of projects from initiation to completion across the country.
