Buhari approves Fasanya’s appointment as DG of SMEDAN

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Olawale Tunde Fasanya as Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
The appointment, which took effect from June 6, 2022, was contained in a letter dated June 23, 2022 and signed by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo.
A statement issued by Deputy Director and Head, Corporate Affairs unit of the agency, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, described Fasanya as “a seasoned technocrat and a certified business development advisor” with a proven track record of landmark accomplishments of 35 years in the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) ecosystem in Nigeria.

Born on June 3, 1962 in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, Fasanya holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Literary Studies from the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife in 1985.
Fasanya, who is due for the award of PhD in Public Policy Analysis and Management from the University of America, also holds an Advanced Certificate in Public Relations from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Lagos and a Masters in Public Administration from the Lagos State University in 1994, among other qualifications.
