Britain’s fifth-ranked tennis player, Fran Jones, collapsed and needed assistance to be taken off the court in a wheelchair for medical attention during a match in Colombia.
The 24- year -old was trying to serve in the ninth game of the final third set in Bogota when she fell down.
Jones, who holds the position of British number five, could not complete her first-round match at the Colsanitas Cup.
A statement from the Colsanitas Cup said “Francesca Jones has withdrawn from her match against Julia Riera due to a physical issue, with the score at 6-2, 5-7, 5-3 in favor of the Argentinian.”

At the same time, Heather Watson was eliminated from the Charleston Open after losing in straight sets to Iryna Shymanovich in the first round.
The British player, ranked seventh in her country, lost with scores of 7-6 (10-8) and 6-4 to the Belarusian, who is ranked 215th in the world.
