The Acting Commander of Sector 4, Operation Hadin Kai, and Commander of 23 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Amechi Agwu, has reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to upholding human rights and fostering strong collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission of Nigeria (NHRCN), Adamawa State Chapter.
General Agwu made the pledge on Wednesday during a courtesy visit by the Acting State Coordinator of the Commission, Mrs. Grace Mamza, to the Brigade Headquarters in Yola.
In a statement released by the Brigade’s Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Captain Olusegun Abidoye, General Agwu emphasized the importance of respecting human rights within military operations and maintaining a cooperative relationship with the NHRCN.
“We welcome constructive criticism and see it as a necessary tool for improving our operations,” the Commander said, noting that continued synergy with the Commission is vital to ensuring public trust and operational success.

Mrs. Mamza, in her remarks, lauded the Brigade for its openness and proactive engagement with the NHRCN. She stressed that the Commission is not out to target any group but is dedicated to protecting the rights of all Nigerians, including civilians in conflict-affected areas.
“Our visit is aimed at strengthening this partnership and reinforcing our presence in the state. We are here to support the military in ensuring that human rights are upheld during all operations,” she stated.
The visit was said to have been concluded with the signing of the visitor’s book, the exchange of souvenirs, and a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
