Mudashiru Obasa has been re-elected as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly following the resignation of Mojisola Meranda.
Meranda stepped down from the position on Monday, with immediate effect, paving the way for Obasa’s return.
Her resignation came just weeks after she assumed office on January 13, 2025, following Obasa’s impeachment.
Obasa’s re-election marks a significant turn-around in the assembly’s leadership crisis.

His removal had sparked political tension, leading to negotiations among key stakeholders, including members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and lawmakers.
With Obasa back in office, the assembly is expected to resume normal legislative activities, though sources suggest further leadership changes may still occur in the coming days.
