The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) has announced plans to invest N943 million in 2026 to help make the Bible more accessible to people by translating it into local languages and supporting other important programs.
This information was shared by the Public Relations Manager for BSN, Mr. Benjamin Mordi, in a statement made in Lagos.
He noted that the 2026 budget represents a significant 97 percent increase from the ₦479 million spent in 2024, highlighting the BSN’s dedication to ensuring more people in Nigeria can access the Bible and experience spiritual growth.
Mordi said that out of the proposed budget for 2026, ₦288.3 million will be set aside for 10 ongoing projects that focus on translating the Bible.

He said one of the key projects is the Nigerian Sign Language Bible, designed specifically for the deaf community, which will require ₦62 million due to its complex nature.
Additionally, he said ₦306 million is allocated for a programme called: “The Macedonian call.”
This initiative combines providing Bibles with humanitarian aid, delivering food, clothing, bedding, and back-to-school supplies to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and underserved communities across Nigeria.
Mordi said that in the first three months of 2025, BSN had already spent over ₦148 million to support its mission of making the scriptures accessible to everyone.
General Secretary of the BSN, Samuel Sanusi, mentioned that completing a Bible translation project typically costs at least ₦150 million and can take up to eight years.
Sanusi said that despite economic challenges, the BSN remains committed to its mission of sharing God’s Word in every language.
He emphasised the organization’s resilience and accountability in fulfilling its responsibilities to the Christian community, insisting that they will continue to work hard alongside the government to achieve their goals.
