The Nigeria team arrived in Morocco on Sunday to represent the nation in the African National Beach Volleyball Championship in Agadir, Morocco.
The team which comprises 8 players, 4 males and 4 females, left the shores of the country to kickstart their campaign for the title which is scheduled from July 25 – August 2.
According to the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Obayemi Ogunshina, Simon Hilary, Emenike Ezike and Uchenna Augustine were selected for the male team while the women’s team comprises Albertina Francis, Happiness Wushilang, Esther Mbah and Rafiat Mustapha.
Head coach of the team, Kayode Ajilore is confident that the team will do well after undergoing a series of training within the first quarter of the year, adding that the National Volleyball Tour was an added advantage.
Ajilore, a former national volleyball player, stressed that the team spent two weeks in camp preparing for the tourney in Agadir.

He said, “the team will excel at the African Beach Volleyball Championship.
“The boys have been in a closed camp for two weeks; the players are physically and mentally ready.
“I have confidence in the ability of the team.
“Most of the athletes have been busy from the first quarter of the year and the introduction of the National Beach Volleyball Tour is an addition,” Ajilore admitted.
In a statement by Engr Musa Nimrod, President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), he opined that much result should not be expected as the team is currently in a building phase.
Nimrod said that the team have the course to prepare well, hoping they will put in their best.
He said, “The team have prepared well and look forward to a positive outing.
“We pray for success and victory, but we will not say we will win.
“The most important thing is to prepare the prayers. The success is that we are building a new team.
“Even FIVB recognizes NIgeria that we are very strong in under age teams,” he said.
The team was accompanied by head coach, Kayode Ajilore and the Chairman of Nigeria Volleyball Referees Association, Sam Timothy to Morocco for the championship.
