Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has approved the establishment of a high-powered committee to consider requests for the creation of new emirates, chiefdoms, and districts across the state.
The move follows an earlier call by the state government inviting interested communities to submit memoranda seeking the creation of new traditional institutions.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the governor, Mukhtar Gidado, the committee is tasked with reviewing and appraising all submissions in line with specified criteria to determine which communities merit new traditional councils.
The governor emphasised that the committee’s work will be guided by the principles of equity, fairness, socio-political inclusiveness, and financial sustainability.
