A former presidential adviser, Baba-Ahmed, has called on President Bola Tinubu to address Nigerians on the recent threat of military intervention from the United States, as stated by President Donald Trump.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, Baba-Ahmed expressed concern that the president has not yet addressed the public about the serious issue.
He warned that the president’s lack of response conveys a concerning message about Nigeria’s leadership.
Baba-Ahmed stated that “if President Tinubu truly has competent advisers and understands the significance of his role, he should have already communicated with Nigerians.
“This is not the time for ministers or aides to make statements; the president himself needs to reassure the country, clarify our stance, and outline the actions his administration plans to take. Our silence makes us seem weak and directionless.”
He also cautioned against any plans for the president to travel to the United States to meet with Trump, labeling such a move as unwise.

“It would only damage Nigeria’s reputation — akin to receiving a slap and smiling in response,” he remarked.
Baba-Ahmed urged the president to take decisive action.
“If Tinubu genuinely listens to those who care about this country, he must act promptly — appoint ambassadors, strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic presence, and address the nation directly,” he stated.
Trump had threatened to send American military forces to Nigeria if the alleged genocide against Christians was not halted, a claim that the Tinubu administration has completely denied.
