Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi on Monday, participated in the presidential primaries of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), casting their votes at their respective wards in Adamawa State and Rivers Stat, respectively.
Atiku cast his vote at the Ajiya Ward Polling Unit in Jimeta, Yola, Adamawa State, describing the exercise as a demonstration of democracy and a step towards rebuilding the country.
In a post shared on his X account, the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate said the primary election was being conducted simultaneously across 8,809 wards nationwide.
“I joined other prospective voters of the African Democratic Congress in our party’s presidential primaries in casting my vote at the Ajiya Ward Polling Unit in Jimeta Yola, Adamawa State. This is democracy at work,” he stated.
He added that the exercise represented part of efforts to “recover” Nigeria and place it on the path of prosperity.
Also participating in the exercise was Amaechi, who arrived at his Ubima community in Rivers State to vote in the primary election.
A video shared by ADC Vanguard on X showed the former minister of transportation arriving at the venue of the exercise.

The development comes amid growing rivalry within the opposition coalition in the ADC ahead of the 2027 general election.
Amaechi had recently stated that Atiku could lose the party’s presidential primary, insisting that the issue before party delegates should be electability rather than the number of times a candidate had won party primaries.
Speaking during an interview on Trust TV, Amaechi said Atiku’s previous victories in presidential primaries had not translated into success at the general election.
