The army has reiterated its commitment to address the housing shortages faced by its officers and men nationwide.
General Officer Commanding, 6 Division, Maj. Gen. Jamal Abdulsalam, said this at the inauguration of a transit accommodation for officers and other projects at the division’s headquarters on Thursday in Port Harcourt.
The projects include, a block of six mini -flats designated as transit accommodation, a 150-meter access road, and a symbolic python monument.
Maj. Gen. Abdussalam emphasised that the new housing would enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of personnel in their duties.

He pointed out that the division’s headquarters has substantial undeveloped land that can be utilised for further housing units and other projects in the future.
”The barracks has vast undeveloped land that needs to be utilised for additional housing and other projects. And today, we will also inaugurate a150-metre road in the corporal below living quarters, which will open that area of the barracks for further development,” he said.
He highlighted the significant progress made in infrastructural development within the division over the years and encouraged the troops to remain committed to their service.
