Troops under Operation Enduring Peace have carried out a major raid on a suspected gunrunning hideout in Fashoron village, Daffo District of Bokkos Local Government Area in Plateau State. The operation took place on 13 November and formed part of a wider push to weaken armed groups operating within the Joint Operations Area. The suspects escaped moments before soldiers reached the site, but the team secured a cache of weapons and other materials believed to support the illegal trade.
The search uncovered an AK-47 rifle, its magazine, a sub-machine gun, two Dane guns, forty-two rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, eighty-four rounds of 9 mm ammunition and twenty cartridges. Troops also found six mobile phones and a sum of three hundred and thirty thousand naira. The recovered arms and items are now in military custody, while efforts continue to track the men who fled.
