The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has emphasized the importance of selflessness and unity within the Nigerian Army during an Iftar gathering for Muslim officers and personnel.
He said this via a post on the official X handle of the army on March 19, 2025.
Lt. Gen. Oluyede highlighted that Ramadan and the Christian season of Lent both embody the spirit of selfless service and togetherness.
He called upon the officers to embrace the virtues of fasting to become better citizens, committed to fostering a more secure Nigeria and nurturing love among each other.
The army chief stressed the need for officers to care for their soldiers and their families, promoting a familial atmosphere within the army.

Appreciating the officers for their presence, he encouraged them to celebrate and foster the spirit of camaraderie.
“I want us to draw from it that from the virtues of fasting, you get to be better Nigerians, be committed to having a better and more secure Nigeria, and love one another more.
“I want us to live more as a family where we look after one another. We can build a better future,” he said.
Responding, the Chief of Personnel Services, Maj. Gen. Y. Yahaya, expressed gratitude to the army chief for the gathering that underscored the essence of Ramadan.
