The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has commissioned a new ICT centre in Dukku Local Government Area of Gombe State on Thursday.
The information was announced by the acting Assistant Director at the Army Public Relations Land Forces Simulation Centre Nigeria, Lieutenant Adebowale David Adejimi, via the official X handle on Friday, 14 November 2025.
This project, carried out under the Chief of Army Staff’s Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation Project Scheme, was facilitated by Major General Mohammed Wabili, Director General of the Land Forces Simulation Centre.
It is part of the army’s ongoing effort to strengthen ties with civil communities and support national development through education and technology.
The army chief represented by Major General Folorunsho Oyinlola, GOC 3 Division and Commander of OPERATION ENDURING PEACE, emphasized that the project highlights the army’s dedication to fostering positive civil-military relations and contributing to the social and economic growth of the communities.
He praised Major General Wabili for his vision and dedication, and urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the facilities.

The event was attended by senior military officers, government officials, traditional rulers, security and paramilitary agency heads, and the Dukku community.
The ICT centre is equipped with 12 desktop computers, a solar inverter system, projector, printer, laminating machine, central server, and other tools to promote digital literacy, learning, and technological empowerment.
During the event, Major General Wabili expressed gratitude to the chief of army staff for his ongoing commitment to strengthening ties between the army and civilians through sustainable community projects.
He highlighted that the ICT centre would serve as a hub for education, innovation, and empowerment, especially for students and youth.
Gombe State’s Governor, Mohammed Yahaya, represented by the Commissioner for Trade, Industry, and Tourism, Alhaji Nasiru Aliyu, praised the army’s contributions to the state. He described the ICT centre as a positive development that will boost education and economic progress in Dukku and beyond.
