Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested four suspected terrorists and recovered a cache of weapons during a security operation in Taraba State.
The operation was launched on Tuesday in the Tau general area of Ardo-Kola Local Government Area following a distress call reporting the presence of armed men in the community.
According to a statement released Thursday by the Acting Public Relations Officer of the Brigade, Captain Oni Olubodunde, the troops responded swiftly and apprehended four individuals. Three of the suspects were found in possession of firearms.
Recovered items included two pump-action rifles, one locally fabricated firearm, three cutlasses, 42 cartridges, four mobile phones, and a national identity card.

Preliminary investigations, according to the statement, indicate that the suspects may have been invited to the area by one Alhaji Ardo Sani, whose involvement is currently under investigation, the Army said.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade and Sector 3 OPWS, praised the troops for their rapid response and professionalism.
He reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Taraba State and its environs.
The Army also urged residents to continue providing credible and timely information to support ongoing counter-terrorism efforts and maintain peace in the region.
