The founder of Solid Rock Kingdom Church, Apostle John Okoriko has revealed fasting as a hidden exercise that promotes healthy and long life.

Speaking in Uyo during the flag-off of the 2023 Annual long fast prayer conference at Headstone Tabernacle, Okoriko disclosed that fasting helps to eliminate toxic waste that causes all kinds of sicknesses in the body system.

Okoriko explained that the church has observed what he described as “prophet-length fast” from the inception of the church in the last 47 years adding that the exercise is incorporated into doctrine of the church not only for spiritual upliftment but to promote longevity, sanitize the body of members and enhance healthy living.

Okoriko who had observed fasting for 40 days and nights in the past stated that fasting is not appreciated in recent times because of attitude to food.

He noted that the ancient Roman empire had influenced the world in the way of eating, drinking and belief systems.

While unveiling the theme of the fast prayer conference as ” I Will Fast Likewise” Okoriko recalled that the Jews were considered to be people who had different views about life and were hated everywhere in the world but they used fasting to overcome hatred and draconian laws promulgated to exterminate them from the face of the earth.

The man of God noted that scientific processed food consumed now does not guarantee long life and urged the people to choose their food wisely and also abstain from it where necessary.

“The age we are living does not guarantee longevity especially the way we drink and eat daily.

“Junk food is everywhere that is why many don’t live long as they continue to eat them.

“Fasting has been the natural way to preserve, purify the body and elongate humanity though many people have ignored it.”

He said animals, trees and the ocean observed fasting as the tree shades off their leaves while the ocean sanitizes itself by bringing out all impurities dumped by man.

He said the same way the body can send out toxic waste out of the body during fasting adding that members and non-members should join him in the 14-day prophet-length fast to purify the body and uplift their spirit.

Okoriko who can read tiny printed fonts of alphabets without eyeglasses at the age of 75 said many people all over the world show up their wealth through protruding bellies. He said such body weight put a lot of pressure on their kidneys and recommended fasting two to three times a week to promote long life.

“Fasting help me to select my thoughts, regulate my tongue and influenced me in making decisions.

“Food is the source of anger. Fasting will impact your emotions and gives you inner strength that will bring down negative emotions such that what others are angry about may not make you annoyed.

“Those who want to live for more than 120 – 150 years should subdue themselves to prophet length fast,” he said.
