The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has expressed excitement over the resignation of Rep. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and her decision to join their party.
Rep. Ibori-Suenu, who represents the Ethiope East/Ethiope West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, confirmed her defection to the APC shortly after announcing her resignation from the PDP.
APC Publicity Secretary for Delta State, Valentine Onojeghuo, in a statement, described Rep. Ibori-Suenu as a political force and a valuable addition to the party.
The statement reads: “While we are glad to receive the news of her resignation from PDP, the leadership of the APC in Delta State is yet to be officially informed of her membership of the party.
“But, be rest assured that the Delta State APC will welcome her with open arms as we consider her a political force that will be of great benefit as we continue to build the party into a formidable opposition before the 2027 general elections.”
Rep. Ibori-Suenu’s resignation from the PDP, communicated through a formal letter addressed to the local government chairman of the PDP in Ethiope West, cited her complete exclusion by the state chapter of the party and the ongoing national leadership crisis within the PDP as reasons for her decision.

Her move to the APC has stirred political conversations, in the state. Analysts believe her decision to align with the APC can reshape the political landscape in the state and strengthen the party’s position as an opposition force.
The PDP leadership in Delta State has yet to comment on her resignation.
Meanwhile, Rep. Ibori-Suenu’s office confirmed that she views the APC as the best platform to continue her legislative and developmental efforts for her constituency.
This development is seen as a major win for the APC in Delta State, bolstering its ranks as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
