He explained that the arrests included people involved in serious crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping, and gang-related activities.

In addition to the arrests and convictions, he said the police recovered over 300 firearms, more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition, over 30 vehicles, and 20 explosives from criminals operating in the state.

One notable arrest was that of a suspect linked to the high-profile kidnapping and murder of the Labour Party (LP) state House of Assembly member, Mr. Justice Azuka.

Orutugu emphasized that the achievements demonstrate a strong commitment to law enforcement and serve as a warning to criminals that they will face justice eventually.

He also mentioned a new initiative called ‘Operation Zero Kidnapping’, launched in partnership with other security agencies, which has led to a noticeable decline in kidnapping incidents, helping to restore safety and confidence among local residents and visitors.

Furthermore, the state police boss said the police have used peaceful negotiation strategies to resolve local disputes, including a long-standing boundary disagreement between villages in the area.

To enhance community safety, the police trained local security operatives on how to act lawfully and manage crime scenes effectively.
