The Ebonyi South Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senatorial candidate, Barrister Silas Onu has said that despite his disqualification, he is still in the race for the Ebonyi South Senatorial bye-election come Saturday, February 3, 2024.
In a statement on Friday, Onu stated that he is optimistic that the Party would defeat the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, in the bye-election and called on his supporters to come out en-masse and cast their votes for PDP.
It would be recalled that the seat of Ebonyi South senatorial district was declared vacant after the former Governor of Ebonyi state, David Umahi resigned the elective position to serve as Minister of Works.

He commended the people of the zone for their acceptance despite humiliation from government officials and vowed to resist such on election day.
The Peoples Democratic Party candidate, PDP, candidate tasked security agencies to be professional and not partisan in the discharge of their duties.
He also appealed to the people of Ebonyi South to vote for PDP as the era of imposition of candidates is over in the zone while promising to defend their votes.
