Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the House of Representatives Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas and their deputies have endorsed President Bola Tinubu second term ambition, indicating that the nation is now advancing towards development and advancement.
During the APC National Summit at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Abuja, Akpabio introduced a motion, recognising the considerable hurdles President Tinubu faced during the 2023 elections.
Accompanied by Abbas, Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, and Deputy House of Representatives Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, among others, Akpabio conveyed a hopeful outlook for what lies ahead.
He forecasted that Tinubu would gain even more states in the elections of 2027, emphasising that he perceives a noticeable shift in support towards the President.
He remarked that “if this president has performed admirably, is it not our obligation to acknowledge that? And if his performance has not met expectations, don’t we also have a responsibility to consider impeachment?
“We are not initiating impeachment proceedings. Instead, we are conveying that 2023 has been challenging for him.
“Looking ahead to 2027, I anticipate a significant turnaround. I foresee positive changes ahead. An increasing number of states are preparing to support you.

“On my way out today, a senator approached me and urged, please take me along. I responded, you cannot join us now.” This individual is a senator from the Labour Party, though I will refrain from disclosing his name.
“Just picture this: A senator from the Labour Party asking to align with us. This illustrates the political acuity of President Bola Tinubu.”
Akpabio noted that in spite of the adversities, President Tinubu is diligently striving to transform Nigeria.
He added: “Even amid tough circumstances, he has successfully put Nigeria on a trajectory of growth, a fact acknowledged by the global community and endorsed by the International Monitoring Forum.
“It’s clear that Nigerians, particularly those at the grassroots level, are highly optimistic. Members of the National Assembly and senators have reported they’ve never experienced such favorable conditions.
“I hereby propose, and let it be recorded that not only should President Bola Ahmed Tinubu be the exclusive presidential candidate for the APC in 2027, but he ought to be the unanimous preference of the Nigerian populace.”
The Senate president highlighted that, with opposition parties, especially the PDP, facing turmoil, President Tinubu should be re-elected in 2027 as the singular candidate.
“Every other political party is in a state of disarray. Upon visiting my state, I noticed the PDP’s umbrella had numerous tears. Soon, you will hear the developments, though it is not my duty to declare it.
“However, I am aware that the national chairman has already alluded to it: the entire political framework in the South-South has crumbled in your favour.
“This illustrates the sentiment prevailing throughout the country. Citizens of Nigeria believe that due to your successful navigation through a tough role, it is now appropriate to honor you with a return to the presidential seat for another term.
“As the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I hereby propose that President Bola Tinubu reinstates himself, firstly, as the exclusive presidential candidate for the APC, and secondly, as the next President of Nigeria in 2027,” he declared.
Akpabio’s stance received complete backing from fellow leaders in the National Assembly, with no opposition expressed.
