The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that Abuja will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with major cities across the world before the end of President Bola Tinubu’s tenure.
The Minister who made this known on Thursday noted that the ongoing transformation of the capital city aligns squarely with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He gave the assurance while flagging off the construction of Arterial Road N20 (Solomon Lar Way) from Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) to the Airport Expressway (AEW).
“I don’t want a situation where you go to a site and then pull out. That would be very embarrassing. Now that you have moved to site, remain there until the job is completed,” the minister charged contractors.

Wike insisted that Abuja residents are already witnessing visible change under Tinubu’s administration.
“All of us will attest that under the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President, the narrative has changed. And I want to assure residents that, by the grace of God, before the end of Mr President’s first tenure, Abuja will compete with most cities in the world,” he said.
The minister described his promise as a “bank draft” for FCT residents, stressing that development will not be limited to the city centre but will also extend to satellite towns.
He added that his administration has now expanded into the health sector, vowing that “no sector will be left untouched.”
