The Chairman of Mkpat Enin local government area of Akwa Ibom state Hon. Aniekpon Ekpo has said that his administration is ready to commission life-touching projects despite all the antics of those planning to destabilize the council.
In a statement signed by the council Chairman and made available to newsmen in Uyo on Tuesday, Ekpo appealed to the public to disregard all attempts by some persons to drag him into the mud through unfounded allegations and threats of impeachment sponsored by political opponents against him.
Ekpo observed that his travails emanated from the hands of those he described as “gladiators opposed to peace, development and unity in Mkpat Enin” and warned the general public to ignore their antics as he (the chairman) has done nothing wrong.
He said he was persecuted because of his rising social and political profile which intimidates his enemies.

Ekpo disclosed that despite all the opposition he will commission next week some projects executed by his administration for the well-being and development of his people.
“Even without struggles, l have been able to overcome unpopular impeachment attempts, assassination attempts, unconstitutional attempts to block council accounts, ill-motivated petitions to various quarters, failed protest attempts, assaults and insults all on the person of Prince Anieokpon Ekpo in a bid to create a wrong perception about my person and pedigree in the eyes of the public and government.
“They have continually failed and will continue to do so for as long as truth will always prevail over falsehood.
“As I await other adverts of blackmail, I enjoin Mkpat Enin people and Akwa Ibomites to discard such antics and get prepared for the commissioning of projects under my administration next week”.
