The Movement for the Survival of the Ijaw Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND) has commended the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Samuel Ogbuku PhD., for his visionary leadership in organizing the Capacity Building Program for Niger Delta Stakeholders on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), facilitated by the Department of Dispute & Conflict Resolution.

In a statement issued by MOSIEND’s National Secretary, Amb. Winston C. Amain, the group described the workshop themed “Fostering Lasting Peace Through ADR: Lessons from the Past, Building Future Opportunities to Advance the Renewed Hope Agenda” as a timely and strategic intervention to address recurring conflicts in the Niger Delta and to promote inclusive peace and sustainable development.

According to Amb. Amain, “The foresight of the NDDC MD/CEO, Chief Samuel Ogbuku PhD., in convening this program underscores a deep understanding that peace is the bedrock of progress. By equipping our people with the skills and tools of ADR, the Commission is not only fostering reconciliation and dialogue but also creating the enabling environment for economic prosperity and social stability in the region.”

MOSIEND further reiterated its longstanding call for the removal of the NDDC’s account from the Treasury Single Account (TSA), stressing that such a step would accelerate regional development. “With the present leadership of the NDDC ably led by Chief Samuel Ogbuku PhD., President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, can be rest assured that the Niger Delta Region would become the next Dubai of Africa,” the statement added.

Amb. Amain emphasized that these initiatives reflect a clear alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government, while also reaffirming the NDDC’s commitment to strengthening partnerships, building trust, and advancing long-term development across the region.

MOSIEND salutes the proactive leadership of the NDDC under the MD/CEO and urges stakeholders to take full advantage of this opportunity to embrace dialogue over conflict, and cooperation over division, for the collective good of our people.

Finally, MOSIEND reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with the NDDC, regional development agencies, civil society organizations, and all critical stakeholders in building a culture of peace, inclusivity, and accountability that will guarantee the sustainable development and stability of the Niger Delta.
