The Taraba State House of Assembly has officially sworn in Abner Shittu, the winner of the recently concluded Karim 1 State Constituency by-election, Abner Shittu, in Taraba state.
The bye-election was held to fill the seat vacated by the former member, Mike Dio-Jen, who is presently the commissioner for tertiary education.
Shittu, who contested and won on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was inaugurated during plenary.
In his remarks shortly after the swearing-in, the Speaker of the House, John Kizito Bonzina, called the new legislator to remain committed to his legislative responsibilities and resist any distractions that could hinder collaboration with his colleagues.
The speaker emphasized the importance of unity and effective representation in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Karim I.
Reacting to recent speculations, the new legislator dismissed claims of his possible defection to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), reaffirming his loyalty to the APC and his commitment to serving the interests of his constituents.
