Prominent Taraba State auto dealer and businessman, Yallah Bariki, has denied allegations of fraud made against him, describing them as malicious and unfounded.
He asserted his continued commitment to lawful and transparent business practices in the state and the country at large.
In a statement released by his public relations office on Monday, Bariki addressed claims questioning his integrity in connection with a recent vehicle transaction.
According to the release, Bariki had entered into a legitimate business arrangement to purchase a vehicle, during which he noticed inconsistencies between the chassis number on the physical vehicle and the accompanying documentation.
The businessman reportedly brought the issue to the attention of the seller, who admitted the discrepancy and assured him that the correct documents would be provided.
A formal agreement, as emphasized by the statement, was subsequently signed, and a partial payment was made, a standard procedure, pending the resolution of documentation concerns.

However, the situation took a turn when an unknown third party contacted Bariki, raising new and unverified claims about the vehicle’s ownership.
This, according to the statement, was the first time such a concern had been brought to his attention.
“At no point did Mr. Bariki act outside the bounds of the law or engage in any form of wrongdoing.
“His actions were transparent, responsible, and rooted in established business protocols,” the statement read.
Describing the allegations as defamatory and a deliberate attempt to damage his reputation, Bariki warned that he would pursue legal redress against any further attempt to associate his name with criminal activity.
He also called on the media, the public, and stakeholders to treat the matter with “fairness and objectivity.”
