The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, has applauded the Finnish court’s decision to convict Simon Ekpa, calling it a significant moment in the global fight against terrorism.
A court in Finland sentenced Ekpa to six years in prison for crimes connected to terrorism, including charges of encouraging violence and supporting terrorist activities.
In a statement, Musa emphasized that this ruling demonstrates that people involved in terrorism will be held accountable, no matter where they are in the world.
He stated that it sends a strong message that there is no refuge for those who support or promote acts of terror against Nigeria or any other country.
Musa expressed appreciation to the Finnish authorities for their commitment to ensuring justice.
He also recognized the efforts of Nigeria’s security and law enforcement agencies, as well as diplomats, for their teamwork in gathering the evidence that helped secure Ekpa’s conviction.
