The former Deputy Governor of Edo State, now the Director General of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Philip Shaibu, has sued the former Governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki and the state government.
In the papers he filed at the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Abuja, Shaibu is demanding for over ₦5 billion being the amount for unpaid allowances by the former governor.
His demands include ₦1.9 billion security votes, ₦1.5 billion for three armored Toyota Land Cruisers, ₦1.5 billion for three Toyota Hilux trucks, ₦85 million for wife’s hospital bills, ₦100 million for a new house, billions in travel allowances, statutory entitlements and more from 2016 to 2024.

It would be recalled that then Gov. Obaseki had influenced the impeachment of Shaibu, then his deputy and despite court rulings asking for his reinstatement refused to reinstate him to his office.
