The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has foiled a kidnap attempt and arrested two suspects involved in the incident in Eket.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, disclosed this in a statement in Uyo on Monday.
He said the police received a distress call from a worried citizen on Saturday night, around 9:15 pm.
The call reported that four men were trying to force their way into a man’s car on Factory Road in Afia Nsit, Eket Local Government Area.

He said thanks to the swift action of the police team, the suspects were scared off and fled the scene.
However, the police quickly started a chase and managed to arrest two of the fleeing suspects.
After the arrests of the suspects, police searched an uncompleted building nearby and found a sack that contained many dangerous weapons and other items.
Among the items discovered were an AK-47 rifle with ammunition, an assault rifle, a pump-action shotgun, a mobile phone, and some personal belongings.
The police stated they will keep working to catch the remaining suspects who escaped.
