The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) have agreed to discuss ways they can work together to train journalists.
Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Ahmed Adamu, meeting with the NUJ executives, emphasized the importance of training to help journalists enhance their skills and professionalism.
Prof. Adamu encouraged the NUJ to formally outline the types of training that journalists need, so the university can make proper arrangements.
He highlighted how crucial journalists are as partners in sharing the university’s accomplishments, including its improved global rankings and the prize it recently won from JAMB, which he felt deserved wider coverage.
Chairman of the NUJ Zaria Unit, Malam Sagir Awwal, acknowledged the university’s strong academic reputation and its contributions to the country.

Awwal also emphasized the importance of ongoing training for journalists, suggesting that the university should organize regular training sessions to help reporters continuously improve their skills.
He noted that the visit aimed to strengthen the relationship between the university and the journalists for better news coverage.
