Adeshina Gilbert, a 35-year-old male from Abonkib, Obudu Urban, Cross River who allegedly killed a commercial driver, Agage Ternenge, has been arrested by the Cross River State Police command.
Ternenge, is a native of Mbanyam in Mbatyough Council Ward, Vandeikya LGA, Benue State and was reportedly attacked and stoned to death while delivering a waybill to an individual in Obudu, Cross River State.
The murder, followed a dispute over land situated between Vandeikya in Benue State and Obudu Local Government of Cross River State.
It degenerated to violence, with two other persons reportedly killed and several injured.
A statement signed by Irene Ugbo, PRO in the Cross River State Police Command, stated, read “On the Commissioner’s directives, the Divisional Police Officer of Obudu Division launched a targeted operation that led to the arrest of the suspect.”

According to the statement, “Efforts to apprehend additional suspects are ongoing, as the Command intensifies its manhunt to bring all perpetrators to justice.”
It added that the Cross River State Commissioner of Police, CP Rashid B. Afegbua, has condemned the barbaric act and described the murder as a gross violation of fundamental human rights and dignity of person.
The CP, the statement continued, has also extended condolences to the family of the deceased and urged the public to remain calm and law-abiding while justice takes its due course.
