The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has confiscated a significant amount of illegal drugs across five states and arrested 15 suspects involved in drug trafficking.

NDLEA spokesperson, Mr. Femi Babafemi, said the operations took place over four days, from Wednesday to Saturday, in states including Kano, Gombe, Borno, Niger, and Kaduna.

He said in one of the operations, officers in Kano arrested a suspected drug trafficker who was found with 36,000 pills of tramadol, a powerful painkiller.

Also, in Gombe, they seized an additional 25,000 tramadol pills and other drugs from a suspect at a busy roundabout.

Babafemi added that at the same day, two more suspects were caught with 49 blocks of compressed marijuana, which weighed a hefty 29 kilograms.

The agency also made a significant discovery in Borno State, where they intercepted over 74,000 pills of opioids from a Mercedes-Benz on the road to Maiduguri.

A 44-year-old man has been detained in connection with the find.

Similarly, three individuals were arrested during a targeted operation in Kaduna.

Additionally, a 63-year-old grandmother was apprehended in Bayelsa State, after authorities found 163 liters of illegal street substances at her home.

In Kogi State, four suspects were taken into custody when officers found two kilograms of methamphetamine in their vehicle, which was traveling from Onitsha to Minna.

The NDLEA also conducted a raid in Abia State, where they targeted a well-known drug dealer and recovered a range of illegal substances, including tramadol, cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine.

Furthermore, in Lagos State, agents raided a popular hotel suspected of being a hub for drug distribution.

They found various party drugs, including cannabis-infused chocolates and gummies, in the hotel room of a suspect who is believed to lead the drug operation.

The raid resulted in the seizure of not only drugs but also vehicles connected to the business.

These crackdowns reflect the NDLEA’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and keep communities safe.
