Manchester United has reignited its pursuit of Brentford’s dynamic forward Bryan Mbeumo, submitting a third formal offer worth up to £70 million. The proposed deal includes an initial fee of £65 million with an additional £5 million tied to performance-based add-ons. As of Thursday evening, Brentford has yet to respond to the latest bid.

United is keen to finalize the signing swiftly to allow new manager Ruben Amorim to integrate the Cameroon international into his tactical setup ahead of their US pre-season tour. The team is scheduled to depart on Tuesday for a 13-day training camp in Chicago, where they will play three high-profile friendlies.

While Manchester United has also explored potential moves for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson and Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, the Mbeumo deal remains the club’s top priority. The 25-year-old forward was one of the Premier League’s standout performers last season, netting 20 goals and attracting interest from several top clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, now coached by his former Brentford manager Thomas Frank. However, sources close to the player indicate that Mbeumo favors a move to Old Trafford.

Brentford may be under pressure to hold on to their attacking assets, with striker Yoane Wissa also reportedly on Newcastle United’s radar. Losing both forwards could significantly impact the West London club’s attacking depth ahead of the new campaign.

For United, Mbeumo’s arrival would be a statement signing in what has already been a busy summer window. The club has secured Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha and Spanish defender Diego Leon, signaling a new era under Amorim. If Mbeumo joins, it could push captain Bruno Fernandes into a deeper midfield role to accommodate Amorim’s preferred attacking setup, which deploys two inside forwards behind a main striker.

This tactical reshuffle is expected to cast further doubt over the futures of sidelined forwards Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Antony, none of whom featured prominently in Amorim’s plans last season.

Manchester United will open their Premier League campaign against Arsenal at Old Trafford on August 17, and fans are eager to see if Mbeumo will be in the starting lineup for what could be a defining season under their new head coach.
