Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has taken a major step in reshaping his administration with the approval of six commissioner nominees and the immediate appointment of a new Head of Service. The move, seen as a strategic push to strengthen governance and accelerate development in the state, was announced in an official statement released on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Chidiebere Onyia.

According to the statement, Governor Mbah has transmitted the names of the six commissioner nominees to the Enugu State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation. The nominees include Mr. Benjamin Okoh, Professor Benedeth Okoli, Mr. Enyinna Ogbonna, Dr. Samuel Ogbu-Nwobodo, Professor George Ugwu, and Mr. Ben-Collins Ndu Jr.—all of whom bring a mix of academic excellence, private sector experience, and public service credentials to the table.

In another key development, the governor appointed Godwin Anigbo as the new Head of Service for Enugu State. The appointment takes immediate effect and signals a renewed focus on public sector efficiency and administrative reform.

Governor Mbah’s latest appointments are widely regarded as a move to inject fresh energy and expertise into his cabinet, positioning Enugu State for accelerated progress in critical sectors. Political observers say the strategic mix of technocrats and seasoned administrators reflects the governor’s commitment to transforming the state’s governance landscape.

With the confirmation process now in the hands of the state lawmakers, all eyes are on the Enugu Assembly to approve the nominees and kickstart the next chapter of Mbah’s development agenda.
